Otava has been publishing Finnish-language literature since 1890. Its main areas are general-interest literature and teaching materials. Otava publishes more than 600 new titles by Finnish and foreign authors annually: fiction and non-fiction, books for children and young people, comics and teaching materials textbooks and multimedia. Otava is known and respected for its innovative publishing of both commercial and literary successes. Otava’s unconventional attitude and significant investment have also made it a pioneer in electronic publishing, as well as the market leader in general literature.
Otava Publishing Company Ltd is a member of Otava Group, which is a private, independent and financially sound media corporation. It ranks third among graphic communications publishers in Finland. The Group consists of four business areas: book publishing, retail trade, magazine publishing and New Business Functions.
